USB audio amplifier for Macintosh?
I have a device called a PowerWave (made by Griffin Technologies) that seems to have died. For the last few years, I’ve used it to play music from my Macintosh G4 desktop computer (running OS X). My computer outputs the audio via USB to the device, which in turn outputs to a left-right pair of speakers, which are plugged in the same way speakers are plugged into the back of a stereo receiver. The device’s headphone jack still works, but the speaker output does not. So, I think the device is broken for what I use it for.
Unfortunately, the device doesn’t seem to be sold anymore. I would like to replace it with something that does the same thing: take in an audio output from the computer via USB and amplify it out to a pair of speakers via speaker wire. Are there any products currently being sold that do this? Thanks.
Please keep in mind I’m looking for something with outputs directly to speakers via speaker wire, not left-right RCA cables.
